Internships

Horizons offers opportunities to receive hands-on training and experience in health care, education, special education, and philanthropy. We have established internship opportunities with Forsyth Technical Community College and Winston-Salem State University. If your mission is to improve the lives of others with intellectual and or developmental disabilities, and physical health needs we’d like to have you join us.

Horizons offers unpaid internship positions for undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of areas, including physical therapy, social work, special education, finance, fundraising, marketing and communications, speech/language development, and other disciplines. Our interns work alongside staff members, assisting in a variety of facets of care, and gaining valuable insights and experiences while improving the quality of life for others in our care.

Service Groups

On-site, hands-on work projects are available for your group, organization or workplace. These include a variety of activities (such as wheelchair cleaning, vehicle cleaning, yard work, window cleaning and more), as well as involvement with recreational activities and social events. All efforts are helpful and needed, but may require coordination and supervision under OSHA guidelines, may be limited to certain seasons and may require training to assist our residents.
